The story of The Athens Paddock Club:
The Athens Paddock club was originally founded in 1975, at The Athens Hotel, formerly and currently The Stewart House. It all started with a lucky horse bet, but what happened next is the where true story of community shines. The fortuitous group decided to use the winnings from the bet to provide a meal to the poor and needy of Athens. The winnings were used to throw a Prime Rib dinner with all the fixings. That was just the beginning. From there the newly branded “Athens Paddock Club” expanded their fundraising donations. Putting together Easter Egg hunts, Secret Santas, and other activities to benefit the community of Athens. The clubs vision has expanded beyond the village in the latter years, donating to local cemetery's, baseball and soccer leagues, Boys town, the ASPCA, and helps to maintain the local American Legion. Interesting fact, The Athens Paddock Club was originally started as a "Gentlemans Club". 40 years later, in 2015, the first womens application was accepted, and voted into the club, opening the door to other women in the community. The club continues to grow and prosper each year, thus furthering the mission to support the local surrounding communities in all ways possible.
